FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE STORM

How many teams do the Storm have and what age groups?

The number of teams we have will depend on the quality level at each grade, the ability to have a qualified coach and gym availability. We do not run this program as a for profit so we are not interested in having too many teams that will take away from our mission In 2010 we will field teams from u10 thru u17

How is the Storm different from other AAU programs?

We believe the Storm provides a unique combination of features that include our philosophy on player development, experienced and proven coaching staff, efficient operations and clear communications to parents and players.

What are your objectives for age groups that will have multiple teams?

Our main objective is make sure each player improves fundamentally. We will tailor a tournament schedule to provide the most suitable level of competition for each team. We expect at least one team to be a strong contender for the Division 1 state championship and the other team be a strong contender for the Division 2 state championship. Each team will go to the same amount of tourneys and at times may practice together. Each team will be treated the same . We do have a few teams at age groups that play a reduced schedule to allow our players the opportunity to also play another spring sport.

What type of time commitment do you expect from your players?

Our season will run from mid March to mid June and consist of four -  six tournaments, which will be played on weekends. Our teams will practice twice a week. Each practice will be approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours. We expect our u13, u14, u15 u16  and u17 BLUE teams to make the Storm their priority sport in the spring .

What will the cost per player be?

The cost will be between $550 -$700.00. It will be determined prior to the start of the season. What we can say at this point is that all proceeds collected will go directly to tournaments, uniforms and team events. There will be no fund raising events. We expect the costs will be extremely competitive with other AAU programs.

What is your philosophy on playing time?

Equal playing time isn't guaranteed, but we expect each player will have meaningful role and play meaningful minutes. Our first and foremost goal is to develop players.

Can I contact the staff directly with additional questions?

Our coaches would be glad to speak with you and answer any questions. Their email and phone information can be found by clicking
here.

Can you tell me more about the open gyms and clinics?
The open gyms and clinincs allow any players interested  in competing with Storm to play with some of the current Storm players in a relaxed and friendly environment. It also provides the players and their parents an opportunity to meet with the Storm coaches. Please follow our website for all open gyms and clinic opportunities.

When will tryouts for the 2010 season be held?

Tryouts for the 2010 season will take place in December, January and February of 2010. The date, time and place have not been determined yet. The logistics for the tryouts will be announce in December on our website.

What types of players is the Storm looking for?

The Storm is looking for very good players who are committed to improving their skills and willing to play a team game. We look for players with good work ethics, proper attitudes and good academics. We have found in only one year that those that play for the Storm enjoy the experience and would like to return. We try to develop more than just the basketball player
